Sourcing
Our analysis is based on the public record: primary documents, official statements, published data and established historical scholarship. Where an article relies on a specific source, we name it in the text. We do not publish claims we cannot support.
Review and editing
Every article is read and edited before publication by an editor other than the writer. Editing checks the argument, the accuracy of factual statements, the fairness of characterisations and the quality of both the English and Arabic versions.
Dating and updates
Each article shows its publication date. When an article is substantively changed after publication, the page shows an updated date as well. Minor typographic fixes are not separately dated.
Translation
Articles are published in both English and Arabic. Translations are intended to carry the same meaning rather than to be word-for-word: where a phrase cannot be rendered directly, we choose the wording that preserves the argument.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made by the editorial desk. Articles that express the view of the desk rather than reporting are filed under Opinion.
